The RG8520 is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in late 2017. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen as part of the high-end J Custom line. It replaced a similar model with the same name which had a rosewood fretboard.
The RG8520 features a 4mm thick flamed maple top with natural binding on an African mahogany body bolted to a maple and wenge neck with VelveTouch finish and a Macassar ebony fingerboard with flame maple binding and Tree of Life inlays. Components include a Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge, a pair of DiMarzio humbucking pickups with zebra bobbins and a mini-toggle coil split switch, Gotoh tuning machines, and Gotoh locking strap pins.
The RG8560 is a related model with an HSS pickup configuration. The MRG16/ RG8520M is a related model with an ash back, maple fingerboard, and gold hardware.
The RG8520 was discontinued after 2025.
