Painted
in Gold
An extremely limited edition of Steve Vai's PIA, hand-painted in real 24-karat gold. Every single guitar is a unique piece of art.
Some guitars are instruments. The PIA77BON2 is a canvas — Steve Vai's Paradise in Art, elevated to literal gold.
Steve Vai
Legendary · 3× GrammyFor nearly four decades, Steve Vai and Ibanez have pushed the electric guitar somewhere no one else dared to take it. The PIA — Paradise in Art — is the distilled result: his signature DiMarzio® UtoPIA™ pickup set, a Lo-Pro Edge tremolo, jumbo stainless frets, the Petal Grip and the blossoming PIA inlay. In Vai's own words, a guitar should feel like "a trusted creative companion — something that encourages you to reach beyond what you thought possible."
David Bonvillain
Hand-Painted · Real 24k GoldWhat makes the PIA77BON2 a genuine one-of-a-kind is its finish: a lace-like, filigree flame pattern painted by hand across the front and back of the body by master artisan David Bonvillain — in real 24-karat gold, crowned with custom pinstriping. No two instruments are alike. Vai calls the result "alive with motion and energy" — and up close, it truly is fine metalwork you can play.
Under the Gold
Prestige · Made in JapanBeneath the artwork sits the full PIA platform: 5-piece Maple/Walnut neck, alder body, rosewood board with scalloped 21–24 frets and Luminlay side dots, gold hardware, Gotoh® machine heads, a high-pass filter on the volume pot and the Ultralite™ carbon-graphite tremolo arm. A certificate and a commemorative metal plate inside the hardshell case complete the package.
One Guitar. One Chance.
