The Meinl Stick & Brush Slimak Signature is a pair of our Heavy 5B American Hickory sticks, with one stick having no taper or tip. Like a thick timbale stick, it’s meant for extra-heavy snare hits while you play cymbals with the standard stick.
"For over 30 years, I’ve experimented with various drumsticks and struggled to find a suitable left-hand stick. I needed a heavier stick for my left hand to achieve stronger snare hits.
I tried turning the stick over to play with the bottom end, which was uncomfortable to hold. I also tried keeping two separate sets of sticks—one standard for my right hand and another with a larger neck and tip for my left hand. This was also not ideal.
Thanks to my collaboration with Meinl Stick & Brush, I now have a pair of signature sticks that I’ve always dreamed of. Here’s how the pair is constructed:
For my right hand, I use Meinl's Heavy 5B American Hickory stick. The left-hand stick has the same dimensions as the Heavy 5B but without a taper or tip. It resembles a timbale stick but in a Heavy 5B version.
Thanks to the Slimator Heavy 5B sticks, I can produce a rich and powerful sound on my drums. These sticks are truly the best!"
