Pete Thorn pushes his signature pickup even further with the Thornbucker II. This pickup is inspired by the high-gain British sounds from the ’70s and ’80s and comes stock on Pete’s Suhr Signature Standard HSS guitar. Specifically, the Thornbucker II is tuned to give you a “hot PAF into a cranked plexi” quality. Suhr starts with the special Thornbucker wind before applying a few extra turns for more output. The hotter coils are then paired with Alnico II magnets for warmer trebles. So how does it sound? Guitarists find that the Thornbucker II has all the clarity and warmth of the original with more punch and body. It pairs perfectly with dimed British-style amplifiers and any high-gain application.

In 1997, after a stint as senior master builder for Fender’s Custom Shop, John founded his own company, a decision that enabled him to bring to fruition products of unrivaled quality, detail, and craftsmanship.
