For decades, the SR series has offered bassists a modern alternative and has continued to evolve thanks to its enduring popularity. Ibanez responds to the diverse requirements of different types of players and budgets, while remaining true to the characteristic core of the series: a smooth, fast neck, a lightweight body, and perfectly tuned electronics. The 5-piece neck made of roasted maple and walnut ensures high stability and durability thanks to its heat-treated structure, while the rosewood fingerboard delivers a balanced tone with clearly focused mids. Medium-sized frets support precise intonation, and the okoume body contributes a bright, solid basic sound. The Bartolini® BH2 pickups with their dual-coil construction and extended magnetic field coverage provide powerful low end, assertive mids, and a smooth response. This is complemented by the Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band tone control, whose sophisticated midrange tuning emphasizes particularly musical bass frequencies. The MR5S bridge allows for flexible string tuning with individually adjustable saddles, while the EQ bypass switch with passive tone control offers additional control and tonal freedom. The setup is rounded off by a 3-way mid-frequency switch that enables a wide range of sound variations, underscoring the versatility that has distinguished the SR series for decades.
