The Ibanez AM was first introduced in the early 1980s and has since established itself as a true cult model. Despite its more compact size compared to other semi-hollow guitars, it offers a warm, assertive sound with impressive sustain. Thanks to its handy design, even players who are more accustomed to solid-body guitars will feel right at home – and that's exactly what makes the AM one of the most popular models in the Artcore series. The Artcore Expressionist series marks another chapter in the history of legendary Ibanez hollow-body guitars. For decades, Ibanez has been revitalizing the market with a variety of designs, from rocking semi-hollow hybrids to classic jazz boxes. The hallmark of the Expressionist series is the original Super 58 pickups, which can also be found on the signature models of George Benson, Pat Metheny, and John Scofield. These pickups are characterized by warmth, balanced articulation, and excellent response—qualities that make them ideal for jazz as well as many other styles. The three-piece nyatoh/maple neck provides balanced resonance and a rich midrange and bass foundation, while the Macassar ebony fingerboard ensures clear highs, fast response, and long sustain. Medium-sized frets ensure precise playing and a comfortable feel. The quilted ash top, sides, and back not only impress with their elegant grain, but also deliver a bright, dynamic tone with plenty of sustain. The proven Super 58 pickups deliver medium output and classic vintage sound. They are complemented by the Gibraltar Performer bridge, which ensures excellent tuning stability and sustain, and the Quik Change III tailpiece, which makes changing strings particularly convenient. With the AM Artcore Expressionist, Ibanez presents a semi-acoustic guitar that perfectly combines tradition, playing comfort, and tonal diversity—compact, stylish, and full of expressiveness.
