For decades, the SR series has offered bassists a modern alternative and continues to impress with its enduring popularity. Ibanez continuously responds to the diverse requirements of different types of players and budgets – but regardless of the features, the characteristic core remains the same: a smooth, fast neck, a lightweight body, and electronics that are perfectly matched. The five-piece neck, made of roasted maple and walnut, is heat-treated for high stability, durability, and moisture resistance. It is complemented by a rosewood fingerboard that impresses with its balanced, mid-focused sound. Medium-sized frets support precise intonation, while the okoume body delivers a bright, solid basic sound. The Nordstrand™ Big Break pickups provide a powerful, aggressive yet clear tone texture, maintaining the characteristic single-coil sound without noise. The Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band tone control offers a particularly musical frequency spectrum, as the boost and cut of the midrange control are tuned to slightly different frequencies. The MR5S bridge with variable string spacing adjustment meets individual playing needs, while the EQ bypass with passive tone control provides additional flexibility. The instrument is rounded off by a 3-way mid-frequency switch that offers a wide range of tones, underscoring the versatility that has always characterized the SR series.
