The Ibanez UB was developed to make it particularly easy to switch from an electric bass to an upright instrument. With its 34" scale length, tapered fingerboard radius for effortless bowing and fast plucking, and compact maple body, it combines high playability with a striking appearance. Despite its slim design, it delivers a surprisingly robust, natural acoustic sound and is much easier to transport than conventional upright basses. The UB is the result of the innovative power of the Ibanez Bass Workshop series, which has been exploring new sonic avenues for over 40 years and developing instruments that are specifically tailored to the diverse needs of modern bassists. Key features include a 5-piece maple/walnut neck, a jatoba fingerboard with a crystal-clear midrange and treble profile, and a maple body for bright, transparent fundamentals. The integrated AeroSilk piezo pickup and specially tuned piezo active tone control create the characteristic “airy” upright feel. The AeroSilk MR5 bridge with specially developed piezo saddles provides optimal support for both pizzicato and arco playing styles. The scope of delivery includes a padded gig bag with space for the bass, bow, and stand, as well as a TAMA Roadpro upright stand that is perfectly matched to the instrument.
